Arg of Tabriz
The citadel of Tabriz (Arg Alishah) is said to be the remains of the southern porch of the Arg Alishah in the city of Tabriz. The building of the first organ dates back to the eighth century AH, which was abandoned in an attempt to construct the al-Shah mosque. In the following years, using the first walls of the mosque, a military tomb was built instead of the building, which was used by the end of the Qajar period by adding various attachments. The sections added to the first walls were destroyed during the Pahlavi era, and parts were destroyed in the post-revolutionary period. Today, the southern side of the citadel is left to be used by everyone. In the decades after the revolution, a large mosque was built in the atmosphere around the citadel called the Great Moslee of Tabriz, which threatened part of the visual space of the citadel. This mosque is used at various state events and on Fridays for Friday prayers.
